The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many challenges for veterinary teams worldwide. However, amidst the challenges, there have been opportunities for career advancement and growth within the veterinary industry. In this program, we will celebrate and recognize the successes and pivots made by teams in 2021. Additionally, we will explore new career opportunities due to the pandemic, surprising participants with the diverse career paths available in veterinary medicine. Career mapping is essential to career advancement, but navigating and determining how to leverage each team member's unique skills and goals can be tricky. We will discuss ways to assess the team's current knowledge and experience, whether in client care, animal husbandry, or medical expertise. We will also cover how to measure and improve skill sets in communication, patient care, and the delivery of veterinary medicine. One crucial aspect of career mapping and leveraging is unity within the team. Managers and leaders are vital in empowering and supporting team members to grow in their careers. We will explore ways to unify a team by leveraging and sharing the workload to support individual career goals.

Rebecca Rose has a diverse background serving the veterinary community as a credentialed team member and leader with over 37 years of experience. She has worked in and managed veterinary clinics, collaborates with industry partners, authors articles and books, and facilitates engaging team workshops. She was recently appointed to the Colorado State Board of Veterinary Medicine as one of the first RVT Members.
Rebecca's enthusiasm for professional development in veterinary medicine is contagious, as she encourages and supports veterinary teams in reaching their highest potential. She believes there are ample opportunities in veterinary medicine to build and maintain a healthy, sustainable life and career. She inspires and motivates with engaging courses and memorable storytelling, building on the synergy of those in attendance.
