VHMA Webinar: Wellbeing Report Reveals Increased Health Challenges-Overview of Merck's Third Study

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed significant added stress on the veterinary community in the form of staff shortages, longer work hours and increased psychological distress. Today, Dr. Joseph Hahn, executive director of U.S. Companion Animal and Equine Professional Services at Merck Animal Health, will share newly released findings from the company’s third collaborative Veterinary Wellbeing Study with AVMA, which examines the mental health of U.S. veterinary professionals while providing tangible recommendations to help alleviate some of the stress and wellbeing challenges experienced across the profession. This iteration of the study is the first to include the perspectives of technicians and support staff respondents along with veterinarians. Joseph Hahn, DVM
Dr. Hahn is the Executive Director of the US Companion Animal and Equine Professional Services at Merck Animal Health. In his current role, Dr. Hahn has been a champion for the enrichment of the veterinary profession helping to sponsor and advance initiatives from the AVMA, Not One More Vet, the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, MentorVet and others. Prior to joining Merck Animal Health Dr. Hahn was in practice for ten years. He spent the first four years of his clinical practice in general practice. During those years, he was able to gain experience in everything from a large corporate practice to a small one doctor practice. His last six years in practice were in Emergency Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Hahn received his DVM degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.
