Panelists:
Elizabeth Fritzler, DVM, CVPM (Cascade Heights Veterinary Center - Seattle, WA)
Elizabeth knew she wanted to be a veterinarian when she was five and was given a book about animal doctors. She began volunteering in clinics when she was in the seventh grade and never considered anything else. She graduated with her DVM degree in 1991 and initially was an equine practitioner. She switched to exclusively small animal practice in 1994 and joined Lien Animal Clinic as an associate in 1996. In 1999 she purchased the practice with her husband, also a DVM. For the next 20 years, she served as the Hospital Administrator and CFO while continuing to practice medicine part-time. They grew the practice from two and a half doctors to eight doctors, built a new facility, and greatly expanded the staff and services offered. In 2018, they sold the practice to a corporate consolidator. In 2016, they partnered with an associate from Lien to start Cascade Heights Veterinary Center. They purchased an old law office and remodeled the building. Currently, she is responsible for much of the practice management and occasionally fills in as a relief doctor. She completed the Certificate in Veterinary Practice Administration from Purdue University’s Veterinary Management Institute in 2006 and in 2008 earned the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) certification designation. She serves on the VHMA Board of Directors and is the VHMA Board Liaison to the CVPM Board.
